The Delhi Daredevils (often abbreviated as DD) are a franchise cricket team representing the city of Delhi in the Indian Premier League (IPL). Founded in 2008 as one of the eight founding teams of the IPL, the Delhi franchise is owned by the GMR Group. Their home grounds are the Feroz Shah Kotla Ground in Delhi and the Shaheed Veer Narayan Singh International Cricket Stadium in Raipur, Chhattisgarh. Despite never making it to the IPL final, the team were table toppers twice (an IPL record shared only with the Chennai Super Kings) and qualified for Champions League T20 twice, making the semifinals in the 2012 edition. However, in recent seasons, the team has struggled, often ending up as wooden spooners.

The team’s current captain is Zaheer Khan while the coach and mentor are Paddy Upton and Rahul Dravid respectively. The leading run-scorer of the side is Virender Sehwag while the leading wicket-taker is Irfan Pathan.

Indian Premier League is a cricket tournament organised by the Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI) and backed by the International Cricket Council (ICC). For the inaugural tournament held in April–June 2008, the BCCI had finalised a list of 8 teams who will be participating in the tournament. The teams representing 8 different cities of India, including Delhi, were put up on auction in Mumbai on 20 February 2008 and the Delhi team was successfully bid for by the Indian construction and property development company GMR Group, who paid US$84 million for it.

The best they could do last season was obtain a sixth place finish with 14 points in the table. Now this is something which may drastically affect the fans turnout in the next season, seeing that the Daredevils have failed to impress the spectators.

DD IPL team 2017 players list is placed here

They do host a bunch of talented players, but call it luck or poor timing, many of them fail to perform at crucial moments. They began the season on a high note, sailing to five victories in their opening seven games. Given that they were in the upper half of the table midway through, it must have been hard for many to anticipate their drastic drop in form. The tables were turned around completely in the second half, as they won just two matches, while losing other five.

Towards the end of the tournament, they had a chance to qualify for the playoffs. The game of the group stage, was the one between the Daredevils and Royal Challengers Bangalore. The match was played in Raipur, on a pitch which neither side were familiar. Batting first, they put up a target of 139 runs, losing eight wickets in the process. Needless to mention, the Challengers won that match by six wickets and made it to the playoffs.

One lesson that the management ought to take from this season is that the team needs experience in the opening and the middle order. While the lack of consistency has been a cause of worry for them, bringing in some big guns may definitely boost their moral and confidence.

However in this season, the management of the team made some necessary changes. And those changes, without a doubt, are sure to leave the other sides reworking their strategies to beat them. Their biggest buy of the season is the 21 year old seamer Kasgio Rabada of South Africa. Known for his dangerous pace, Rabada has made himself a prominent figure on an international level, and already has quite a bit of experience in the T20 format.

Along with him, they also bought the 23 year old Australian Pat Cummins, who made a name for himself in the Big Bash League. Having strengthened their bowling, the Daredevils invested in the middle order by picking up Angelo Mathews and Corey Anderson. Considering that the majority of the team are young players, having a mentor like Rahul Dravid is surely going to be beneficial for the side. Zaheer Khan will continue to lead the side this year.

One thing that we all can be rest assured of, is that no matter how things pan out, fans will still flock to the stadium. Watching them play in their own backyard at the Feroz Shah Kotla in new Delhi is a wonderful experience. Fans from all around the country will look to follow and support their side by going for matches that they play at home as well as away. They will be looking forward to a more sustained challenge in their quest to win their maiden IPL crown.

Their home ground, the iconic Feroz Shah Kotla stadium, has a maximum seating capacity of 50,000 which makes it a cauldron of noise during the matches.

Fans who are unable to book their IPL match tickets in Delhi in advance would also be able to buy tickets from the stadium on match days. However most of the big matches are sold out well in advance especially against teams like Royal Challengers Bangalore and Mumbai Indians. Watch this space for more updates, as we bring you the latest on the ticketing front.

Do you think they have enough to finally make it to the top of the pile next season? They have never made it to any final. They have always been an abiding puzzle of IPL. They just need to formulate a strategy and work on that. It is funny how almost every time, just one of the biggies makes a mark while others abruptly fall. That has to change if Delhi is thinking of lush endings.

Do you think the Delhi Daredevils can step up to the challenge this season? If so, rush and purchase your set of match tickets for all their home games and away games. With the likes of Chris Morris, Albie Morkel & Zaheer Khan in the line up and addition of new DD players, getting tickets as early as possible will be a smart thing to do.

Back them to go all the way this time around by being there at the stadium when the team needs the backing the most. At least in the initial IPL, they cruised to the semifinals as leaders. That should be their first aim this IPL 10 and they have to quickly make winning a habit. Buy IPL DD Tickets 2017 Online using the link above.
